BIOBED FOR RAINFOREST & TROPICAL INVIRONMENTS
NATURAL BEDDING WITH ACTIVE MICROORGANISMS
BIOBED is an excellent bedding solution for animals in tropical environments, as it closely mimics the natural forest floor. Its moisture-retaining properties create a comfortable habitat, ideal for reptiles, amphibians and mammals like tapirs, anteaters, and armadillos.
The active microorganisms in BIOBED help break down organic material, reducing odors and maintaining a clean environment. Additionally, its low dust levels improve air quality, benefiting both animals and caretakers while enhancing the overall enclosure experience.

ENRICHMENT FOR YOUR ANIMALS
BIOBED IN
RANDERS RAINFOREST
Randers Rainforest in Denmark recently switched to BIOBED as bedding in several animal enclosures, and they’ve seen impressive results.
Odor levels have decreased significantly, and air quality has considerably improved. They experienced high dust levels with some of the previously used materials, such as wood shavings and peat. Wood shavings were particularly dusty, causing discomfort for both animals and staff, and often stuck to the animals. Dust would accumulate in the air, sometimes requiring staff to wear masks during cleaning. Sand also posed challenges as it struggled to retain moisture, often resulting in a dry, dusty surface.
With BIOBED, Randers Rainforest has noticed a significant reduction in dust levels. BIOBED’s organic layers retain moisture better and prevent dust from spreading in the air, resulting in a cleaner and healthier environment for both animals and staff.
"The biggest difference since we switched to BIOBED has been the bad odor. It is now almost down to 10% of what it used to be, making it much more pleasant for our guests to walk through our many enclosures, and not least for our zookeepers to work in.
Overall, the air quality has improved as there is much less dust. Additionally, we also prefer the natural look that BIOBED gives the enclosures, especially compared to previously used materials such as sand or wood shavings."

HOW TO USE BIOBED
Here are some insights and recommendations on how you can use BIOBED for your tropical enclosures and animals.
1. START UP
Spread the BIOBED bedding in an even layer i the animal enclosure. The thickness largely depends on the size of the animal using it. The organic texture of the bedding provides a loose and dry top layer while the buttom layer retains moisture.
2. REMOVE FECES
Remove wet spots and feces regularly and refill with fresh BIOBED as needed. How much You will need to refill depends on the animal and off course the size of the enclosure.
3. HEALTHY BOTTUM LAYER
To sustain af healthy composition of beneficial microorganisms it is important that the bedding remains somewhat moist. If your enclosures are heated in any way, it might be necessary to water or sprinkle the bottum layer occasionally.
4. LONG LASTING
The bedding will form a long lasting bioactive bottum, as long as it remains somewhat moist. The microorganisms will continuesly break down the organic material from the animals and help retain a healthy air quality with less dust and odors.
